On May 28th 2018, Tencent’s Seven-Star Data Center located in Guizhou was officially put into trial operation. Pony Ma indicated that Tencent’s most important data will be stored here. With 300,000 servers to be installed, this is the biggest data center in China. “Tencent’s Seven-Star Data Center recently built in Gui’an is located between two mountains. However, the traffic inconvenience makes it rather safe. The frequent rainy weather leads to abundant hydropower resources nearby. Besides, the relatively low temperature in the cave helps to reduce energy consumption.” Guizhou has seized such opportunities and attracted many Chinese and foreign companies to establish data centers here, making big data industry a new business card for the province.
