The successful completion of the main steel truss girder of the Yangbaoshan Bridge, a key project in the Guiyang to Huangping Expressway, marks a significant achievement. The bridge has a total length of 1112 meters with a main span of 650 meters. It is not only a controlling project for the Guihuang Expressway but also the first suspension bridge in Guizhou Province built to the standards of a bidirectional six-lane highway.

Yangbaoshan Bridge is located within Guiding County in the Qiannan Buyi and Miao Autonomous Prefecture. The bridge was constructed by the Second Company of China Communications Second Highway Bureau and started in September 2017. The bridge’s towers on both sides utilize a portal frame structure composed of columns and beams. The columns are made of ordinary reinforced concrete, and the beams are of prestressed concrete structure. The use of the AS method for the main cable construction is a first for suspension bridges in China, filling a domestic technological gap. It is also the widest steel truss suspension bridge in China’s mountainous areas.

Upon completion, the project will shorten the distance from Guiyang to Huangping by 39 kilometers compared to the Guiweng Expressway and by 60 kilometers compared to the Shanghai-Kunming corridor. It will be the most convenient expressway from Guiyang to the Yangtze River Delta economic zone and will also establish a transportation network platform for Guiding County’s ‘Integrate into Guiyang’ strategy. Additionally, the project aims to restore the original ecological landscape, integrating the bridge into nature, and creating a harmonious and beautiful scenic line where the environment and the bridge coexist.
