Lutun is located in the northeastern part of Xingyi City. It is an ancient cultural town with a history of over 600 years. It is inhabited by ethnic groups such as Han, Buyi, and Miao.

According to investigations and research conducted by provincial experts in archaeology and cultural relics, Lutun has been inhabited by humans since the Yin Dynasty. In the vast river of history, Lutun has accumulated a rich military culture, numerous historical sites, quaint and elegant residential buildings, beautiful landscapes, and mysterious karst caves, forming unique natural and cultural landscapes.

The ancient residential houses in Lutun were mainly built during the Ming and Qing Dynasties. The architectural forms include one or two-courtyard or three-courtyard quadrangle houses, swallow-nest-style three-courtyard houses, and fortified quadrangle houses. They were mainly occupied by officials, wealthy families, and the general public resided in tiny homes with blue tiles and swallow-nest roofs. There are still more than 400 well-preserved ancient residential houses covering an area of over 5,000 square meters.

Within the settlement are numerous doors and households arranged in an orderly and picturesque manner. White walls contrast with blue tiles, green trees reflect in red mansions, and both inside and outside the settlement, there are shimmering ponds and flowing rivers, creating a tranquil and picturesque scenery reminiscent of the water towns of Jiangnan. It is truly an ideal destination for tourism and leisure.
